On Campus Interviews
Why do I adore photographing college graduates on campus?
Let me take you back to my prior career.
Many years ago, I was a Director of Recruiting for an enormous international consulting firm. At the end of my time there, I was responsible for hiring over 2,000 college graduates in one year. It was a challenging and rewarding career with lots of travel and time on college campuses. I loved meeting, interviewing, and working with students as they were embarking on their careers - on the cusp of adulthood and launching into the world.
These days you can find me in the Spring, walking colleges campuses conducting a different kind of interview; a more casual conversation that covers much of the same material. How did you choose this school? Did you start in this major? What's been your favorite thing about going here? Do you have a favorite spot on campus? What are your plans after graduation?
These conversations feed my soul. I have found that my favorite part of photography is building a relationship with my client. Getting to know who they are and finding a way to have that shine through in their photos. And, with graduates, I often get to build a relationship with one of the parents. The mutual experience of parenting college students is a frequent topic.
These full-circle experiences have brought me such joy and fulfillment. I can't wait for another season of on campus interviews.
Warmest,
Lisa
