When I work with families, I usually save time for a "kid's choice" photo where they get to be in charge of the pose.  You know what?  They usually pick something silly to do with dad!  I find that most often moms are the driver when it comes to family photos and dads frequently participate somewhat against their will.  They put on the clothes their wife picked and show up hoping to get it over with.  I'm not OK with that.  One of my many goals  is for the dad to approach me at the end of the session and say something like "that wasn't so bad" or "you actually made that fun."  It happens a lot.  So, don't be afraid of how dad will react when you suggest a session with me.  I will convert him!
