Let's go to the beach!

My parents and I moved to Los Angeles from Chicago when I was 10 months old.  Not long after our arrival, we went to the beach.  The instant my parents set me down, I started screaming and climbing up my mom's legs.  I wanted NOTHING to do with that sand!  Turns out, not much has changed since then.  I have a serious problem with sand. Any time we have vacationed in Hawaii, I have found a place to stay that has a shower and pool right next to the beach. My sensory experience with the salt water and the sand must be similar to the overload some folks describe as "fingernails on the chalkboard." (If you know what I'm talking about, you must be over 35 because chalk boards have been gone for quite a while!)  A girl can only tolerate that feeling for so long.  You know those cute photos of kids buried in sand up to their necks?  I can hardly look at them.

Pre-COVID, I had the joy of working with this family in Santa Barbara at a photography conference called Photo Native.  They were so darling and we had so much fun that I didn't even notice the sand all over my legs until I was on the way back to the car!  Last week I met my sister-in-law in Malibu for a picnic and long walk on the beach.  You guys!  It was soul-refreshing!!! I even drove home without washing my feet.

There is nothing better than exposure therapy to cure a sensory issue.  So I have a great offer for you.  If you book a beach shoot with me before the end of July, I will waive my usual travel fee.  That's right friends,  you will save $100 big ones!   Get in touch and let's make some beautiful photos while you make fun of my sand-phobia.

Warmest,

Lisa
